In-store mobile payments fail to take off in North America

"Of those who have used mobile payments apps in store, respondents most frequently use their bank’s mobile app (26%)..."

I'm still confused about this quote. Is it a lie or a misunderstanding? How do you pay in store with your bank's mobile app in North America?

As a European I don't remember hearing about such mobile in-store payments in North America. Is it NFC or QR codes or something else?

Curve bids to bridge the gap between cards and mobile payments

I find it hard to believe that this works with chip. If it does work, we should be really worried about the new wave of skimming coming in the near future.

Card fraud rises across Europe - ECB

The Stripe approach seems to be quite successful and a good balance between security and convenience. Is this the recommended method to prevent fraud while keeping revenue for CNP transactions?

Card fraud rises across Europe - ECB

Does anyone know how the actual loss is distributed between cardholders, issuers, acquirers and merchants? I assume the merchants take the biggest hit for CNP due to not using enough fraud protection and getting chargebacks.

Discover lets users freeze their misplaced cards

I think I've been able to block my card from my phone for quite some time. Just call the card issues and ask them to block it.

Fewer than 1% of European ATMs upgraded to Windows 7

Running XP on an ATM isn't necessarily a problem since the users don't have access to email and web browsers to get tricked into downloading malicious software. As long as the machines have properly configured firewalls and aren't running any unnecessary services they should be safe enough.

CommBank does an Apple; releases own POS tablets, iPhone terminals and App store

Interesting, but why is there a fancy video for the product that will be released about a year from now (Albert) but no video for the product being released next month (Leo)?

Google launches mobile wallet

The Google blog explains it a bit more vaguely - "Visa, Discover and American Express have made available their NFC specifications that could enable their cards to be added to future versions of Google Wallet."

ANZ contactless m-payments trial disappoints

"the MicroSD technology did not meet all of our requirements"

What requirements did the technology not meet? And why was the trial started with technology that did not meet the requirements?
